Frederick asks why anyone needs a point-and-shoot camera in this age when mobile-device cameras are so good? Find out whether Doug thinks the image quality of Sony’s RX100 Mk2 is enough to justify buying one and carrying it in addition to your phone.
We’ve said the point-and-shoot market is being crushed by smartphones, and with a price tag of US$750 (more than some DSLRs!) the Sony RX100 II had better live up to its reputation as the best point-and-shoot camera for 2013. Are Sony’s new “back-illuminated” 20MP 1” sensor and 3.6x Zeiss zoom good enough to justify filling two pockets?
